Harbor Bridge Project announces the opening of new Northwest Loop Ramp to affect motorists heading southbound on SH 286 (Crosstown Expressway) from the Harbor Bridge and northbound IH 37 beginning August 25, 2021

CORPUS CHRISTI: Beginning Wednesday, August 25, at 6 am, a traffic switch onto the newly constructed Northwest (NW) Loop Ramp will be in effect for motorists heading southbound on SH 286 from US 181 (Harbor Bridge) and the Bayfront and Uptown areas. The NW Loop Ramp represents progress towards the future tie-in of US 181, IH 37, and SH 286 at the South Interchange.

Motorists heading southbound on US 181 to southbound SH 286 will take the Port Ave/Nueces Bay exit ramp to the new NW Loop Ramp and continue on southbound SH 286.

Motorists leaving the Uptown area can access the NW Loop Ramp to southbound SH 286 by utilizing the Staples Street Bridge to Martin Luther King Drive and onto the new Ramp.

Motorists leaving the Bayfront area can access the NW Loop Ramp to southbound SH 286 by taking Chaparral Street, left on Belden Street, left on Tancahua, right on Martin Luther King Drive, and onto the new Ramp.

Please refer to the attached map to identify the permanent traffic switch. Portable message signs will be in place to assist motorists with navigating the alternate routes.

Motorists are urged to be aware of the route changes, consider using alternate routes, follow all traffic control devices, and to slow down in the work zones.  All work is weather permitting.
