Upcoming Harbor Bridge Project full freeway closure to affect all northbound and southbound US 181 mainlanes between Burleson Street and Beach Avenue ahead of a southbound US 181 shift onto newly paved lanes. CORPUS CHRISTI – On Tuesday, February 22, from 9 pm until 6 am, Wednesday, February 23, all northbound and southbound US 181 mainlanes will be closed between Burleson Street and Beach Avenue. The full closure is necessary for construction related to the Harbor Bridge Project.

Motorists heading northbound on US 181 will be detoured at the Burleson Street exit and follow the E Causeway Boulevard frontage road to reenter US 181 past Beach Avenue.

Motorists heading southbound on US 181 will be detoured at the Beach Avenue exit and follow the W Causeway Boulevard frontage road to reenter US 181 past Burleson Street.

Portable message signs will be in place to alert motorists of the mainlane closures and detour routes.

Upon reopening, motorists heading southbound on US 181 along North Beach will be shifted to the left onto newly paved lanes.

Motorists are urged to be aware of the mainlane closures, consider using alternate routes, follow all traffic control devices, and to slow down in the work zones.  All work is weather permitting.
