Upcoming Harbor Bridge Project IH 37 mainlane closure to affect all southbound lanes from SH 286 (Crosstown Expressway) to Staples Street. A detour will be in place. Temporary closure to be in effect March 2 – 3.

CORPUS CHRISTI – On Thursday, March 2, from 9 pm until 6 am, Friday, March 3, all southbound IH 37 mainlanes will be closed from the SH 286 Interchange to Staples Street. The closure is necessary for a drainage tie-in ahead of a weekend-long traffic shift onto new IH 37 bridge and mainlanes.

Motorists heading southbound on IH 37 towards North Beach/northbound US 181 and to the Bayfront area will follow detour signs to take the southbound SH 286 connector ramp, make a U-turn at Tarlton Avenue, and head northbound on SH 286 to the northbound US 181 and Staples Street exit.

Portable message signs will be in place to assist with navigating the alternate route.

Motorists are urged to be aware of the mainlane closure, consider using alternate routes, follow all traffic control devices, and to slow down in the work zones.  All work is weather permitting.
