Upcoming Harbor Bridge Project temporary closure to affect all I-37 mainlanes at the interchange near SH 286 (Crosstown Expressway). Detours will be in place. One-night closure to be in effect August 13, 2024.

CORPUS CHRISTI – On Tuesday, August 13, from 9 pm until 6 am, Wednesday, August 14, all eastbound and westbound I-37 mainlanes will be closed intermittently at the SH 286 Interchange. The temporary closures are necessary for overhead construction of a connector ramp.

Motorists traveling eastbound on I-37 towards the Bayfront area or to northbound US 181 towards North Beach will be detoured to take the connector ramp to southbound SH 286, make a U-turn at Tarlton Avenue, and head northbound on SH 286 to the northbound US 181 and eastbound I-37 ramps.

Motorists traveling from the Bayfront and Downtown areas to westbound I-37 will follow the detour signs to Chaparral Street, Belden Street, Tancahua, to the Martin Luther King Drive frontage road and merge onto I-37 at the Stillman Avenue on-ramp.

Motorists traveling southbound on US 181 to westbound I-37 will take the first exit ramp to Martin Luther King Drive and continue on the frontage road to merge onto I-37 at the Stillman Avenue on-ramp.

Portable message signs will be in place to assist motorists with navigating the alternate route.

Motorists are urged to be aware of the mainlane closures, consider using alternate routes, follow all traffic control devices, and to slow down in the work zones. All work is weather permitting.
