Beginning Monday, August 2, Martin Luther King Drive (also known as the IH 37 westbound frontage road) will be closed from Staples Street to Port Avenue, including the Port/Nueces Bay exit from northbound IH 37, from 9 pm until 6 am Wednesday, August 4.

CORPUS CHRISTI – Beginning Monday, August 2, Martin Luther King Drive (also known as the IH 37 westbound frontage road) will be closed from Staples Street to Port Avenue, including the Port/Nueces Bay exit from northbound IH 37, from 9 pm until 6 am Wednesday, August 4.  The closure is necessary for construction related to the Harbor Bridge Project.

Motorists coming from southbound US 181 will take the Port Area exit to Power Street, turn right on N Tancahua Street, continue straight, and turn left on Port Avenue.  Motorists heading northbound on IH 37 from downtown will exit Up River Road, take the turnaround onto the Antelope Street eastbound frontage road, and turn left on Port Avenue.

Portable message signs will be in place to assist motorists with navigating the alternate route.

Motorists are urged to be aware of the closure, consider using alternate routes, follow all traffic control devices, and to slow down in the work zones.  All work is weather permitting.
