Beginning October 9, 2019, upcoming Harbor Bridge Project ramp closures to affect access onto IH 37 and SH 286 (Crosstown Expressway)

 CORPUS CHRISTI – Beginning Wednesday, October 9, 2019, ramp closures related to construction of the Harbor Bridge Project will affect northbound traffic on IH 37 near Nueces Bay Boulevard and southbound traffic on SH 286 near Leopard Street. All work is weather permitting. A detailed listing of closures is included below. 

Long-Term Ramp Closure 

On October 9, 2019 the following IH 37 entrance ramp closure will be in effect: 

The northbound IH 37 entrance ramp near Nueces Bay Boulevard will be closed for the construction of the IH 37 northbound frontage road (Martin Luther King Drive). Motorists needing to access IH 37 near the ramp closure, should continue west on the IH 37 northbound frontage road and use the entrance ramp west of Buddy Lawrence Drive. The ramp will be rebuilt as part of the Harbor Bridge Project and will reopen at a later date. 

Permanent Ramp Closure 

On October 9, 2019 the following SH 286 entrance ramp closure will be in effect: 

The southbound SH 286 entrance ramp near Leopard Street will be permanently closed as part of construction related to the Harbor Bridge Project. This ramp will not be rebuilt as part of the Project. Motorists needing to access SH 286 near the ramp closure, should continue south on the SH 286 southbound frontage road (Culberson Street) and use the entrance ramp south of Comanche Street. 

Frontage roads will remain open and traffic signs will assist with navigating motorists through alternative routes. 

Motorists are urged to be aware of the lane closures, to consider using alternate routes, to follow all traffic control devices, and to slow down in the work zones.
