CORPUS CHRISTI –Beginning Thursday, September 5, 2019 the Lipan Street Bridge will be closed to traffic.   The structure is to be demolished as part of the Harbor Bridge Project.   As part of the demolition process, nightly lane closures will affect SH 286 (Crosstown Expressway).  The main lanes will be closed nightly between Agnes Street and IH 37 from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. from Friday, September 6, 2019 to Sunday, September 8, 2019.  All work is weather permitting.  Details of the closures are listed below.

Southbound SH 286 will be closed to through traffic.  Northbound SH 286 through traffic will be reduced to one lane.

September 7, 2019
Northbound SH 286 will be closed to through traffic.  Southbound SH 286 through traffic will be reduced to one lane.

During the demolition process, downtown access for northbound SH 286 will still be available via Agnes Street. (See attached map for recommended alternate routes for all SH 286 closures).

Once demolition is complete, traffic patterns near the bridge will include the reduction of Brownlee Boulevard to one lane between Lipan Street and Leopard Street.  Pedestrian access will be available via the newly constructed Comanche Street Bridge.

The Lipan Street Bridge will not be reconstructed and will remain a permanent closure. Traffic seeking access in this area will need to utilize the newly constructed Comanche Street Bridge.

Motorists are urged to be aware of the lane closures, to consider using alternate routes to avoid delay, to follow all traffic control devices, and to slow down in the work zones.
