On July 23, closures to affect Port Avenue Intersection at IH 37

CORPUS CHRISTI –The intersection at IH 37 and Port Avenue will be closed on Thursday, July 23, from 10 p.m. until 6 a.m. The closure is necessary for construction work on the Harbor Bridge Project.

Detour signs will be in place.

Motorists are urged to be aware of the lane closures, to consider using alternate routes, to follow all traffic control devices, and to slow down in the work zones. All work is weather permitting.

JOIN THE BRIDGE TEAM

1. The new bridge is expected to last 170 years.

2. Includes LED lighting feature, belvedere and shared-use path.

3. Main Tower Height = 538 ft

4. The base of each bridge tower is roughly the size of two basketball courts.

5. Once complete, will be the longest cable stay bridge in the United States.

6. Main Span Length = 1661 ft

7. Clearance = 205 ft above water

8. The length of the main span of the bridge is equivalent to the length of 5 ½ football fields.

9. Once complete, will be the tallest structure in South Texas.
