On June 29, the newly reconstructed US 181 Southbound Frontage Road will be open

CORPUS CHRISTI –Beginning Monday, June 29, 2020, the newly reconstructed US 181 Southbound Frontage Road will be open to two-way traffic, connecting Beach Avenue to Burleson Street. The existing Northbound Frontage Road will be closed to traffic between Burleson Street and Beach Avenue. Detour signs will be in place. See attached map.

Motorists are urged to be aware of the changes and to slow down in all work zones. All work is weather permitting.

JOIN THE BRIDGE TEAM

1. The new bridge is expected to last 170 years.

2. Includes LED lighting feature, belvedere and shared-use path.

3. Main Tower Height = 538 ft

4. The base of each bridge tower is roughly the size of two basketball courts.

5. Once complete, will be the longest cable stay bridge in the United States.

6. Main Span Length = 1661 ft

7. Clearance = 205 ft above water

8. The length of the main span of the bridge is equivalent to the length of 5 ½ football fields.

9. Once complete, will be the tallest structure in South Texas.
