The Harbor Bridge Project announces the opening of a new direct connector ramp to affect traffic heading southbound on IH 37 to southbound SH 286 (Crosstown Expressway). Delayed three days from original notice due to weather. A one-night full southbound IH 37 closure at the SH 286 Interchange is necessary to open the new ramp. New permanent connector ramp opening to be in effect February 28, 2022.

JOIN THE BRIDGE TEAM

1. The new bridge is expected to last 170 years.

2. Includes LED lighting feature, belvedere and shared-use path.

3. Main Tower Height = 538 ft

4. The base of each bridge tower is roughly the size of two basketball courts.

5. Once complete, will be the longest cable stay bridge in the United States.

6. Main Span Length = 1661 ft

7. Clearance = 205 ft above water

8. The length of the main span of the bridge is equivalent to the length of 5 ½ football fields.

9. Once complete, will be the tallest structure in South Texas.
