The Harbor Bridge Project announces new access to the Uptown Area from northbound SH 286 as the current exit to Comanche Street permanently closes. Permanent closure and new access to be in place August 24, 2024.

CORPUS CHRISTI – Beginning Saturday, August 24, a traffic shift and new alignment to access the Uptown Area will open as the current exit to Comanche Street closes.

Commuters heading northbound on SH 286 to the Uptown Area will follow a new ramp towards Antelope and Staples Street to access the area around Corpus Christi City Hall.

Connectivity from northbound SH 286 to eastbound and westbound I -37 will not be impacted.

Please see the attached map highlighting the new connectivity. Portable message signs will be in place to assist commuters with navigating the new route.

In order to achieve the above, on Friday, August 23, from 9 pm until 6 am, Saturday, August 24, A temporary one-night closure of the connector ramp for northbound SH 286 to westbound     I-37 will occur for the traffic realignment. Motorists will be detoured to take northbound SH 286 to eastbound I-37 and make a U-turn at Chaparral Street to continue westbound on I-37.

Motorists are urged to be aware of new route and to slow down in the work zones. All work is weather permitting.
