CORPUS CHRISTI – On Thursday, October 17, from 9 am until 4 pm, paving convoys will be in place at the westbound IH 37 exit ramps to Port Avenue and Nueces Bay Blvd to install final asphalt surface layers.
Motorists traveling southbound on US 181 to southbound SH 286 will be detoured to continue on IH 37, take the Up River Road exit, and turn left to access the frontage road for eastbound IH 37 toward the connector ramp for southbound SH 286.
Motorists traveling from the Bayfront area to Port Ave and Nueces Bay Blvd will follow the detour signs to Chaparral Street, Belden Street, Tancahua, to the Martin Luther King Drive frontage road.
Motorists traveling southbound on US 181 to westbound I-37 will not be impacted by the ramp closures.
This final step to complete the ramps marks a significant milestone towards improved connectivity around the South Interchange.
Commuters are urged to be aware of the ramp closures, traffic control devices, and slow-moving traffic along the mainlanes and frontage roads. All work is weather permitting.
