CORPUS CHRISTI – On Tuesday, April 22 , from 7 pm until 6 am, Wednesday, April 23, northbound SH 286 will be completely closed from the Comanche Street Bridge, affecting commuters to northbound US 181 and IH 37. The closure is necessary to complete final surface paving.
All motorists will be detoured at the Agnes/Laredo exit and remain on the frontage road to follow signs to access NB US 181 and IH 37 towards the Bayfront and Calallen areas. Police officers and flaggers will be in place to assist with traffic flow during the closure.
Motorists heading northbound on SH 286 to Antelope Street for the Uptown area will be detoured to take the connector ramp for northbound IH 37, exit at Nueces Bay Boulevard, make a U-turn, and remain on the frontage road to continue towards the Staples Street intersection.
Portable message signs will be in place along northbound SH 286 to alert motorists of the closure and detour route.
Motorists are urged to be aware of the full closure, consider using alternate routes, follow all traffic control devices, and to slow down in the work zones. All work is weather permitting.
