CORPUS CHRISTI – Beginning Monday, April 4, at 8 am, Port Avenue between Antelope Street (IH 37 eastbound frontage road) and Leopard Street will be fully closed until Thursday, April 14. The long-term closure is necessary for utility work related to the Harbor Bridge Project.
Motorists heading southbound on Port Avenue will be detoured onto Martin Luther King Drive and follow the detour signs to Nueces Bay Boulevard and Leopard Street. Motorists heading northbound on Port Avenue will be detoured onto Leopard Street and follow the signs to Nueces Bay Boulevard and Antelope Street. See the attached detour map, which includes a route for pedestrians.
Portable message signs will be in place to assist motorists with navigating the alternate routes. Business driveways along the closed section of Port Avenue will be granted access for customers and employees.
Motorists are urged to be aware of the closure, consider using alternate routes, follow all traffic control devices, and to slow down in the work zones. All work is weather permitting.
