Upcoming Harbor Bridge Project mainlane closure to affect all southbound IH 37 lanes from Buddy Lawerence Drive to Staples Street. Detours will be in place. Full weekend southbound IH 37 closure to be in effect December 15 – 18.

CORPUS CHRISTI – Beginning Friday, December 15, from 9 pm until 6 am, Monday, December 18, all southbound IH 37 mainlanes will be closed from Buddy Lawerence Drive to Staples Street. The closure is necessary to complete a traffic shift onto new IH 37 mainlanes and a bridge over future US 181.

Motorists heading southbound on IH 37 to the Bayfront area will be detoured at Buddy Lawerence Drive, continue on the frontage road, turn right onto Port Avenue, turn left onto Comanche Street, turn right to enter southbound SH 286, make a U-turn at Tarlton Avenue, and head northbound on SH 286 to the northbound US 181 and Staples Street ramps.

A detour map is attached to assist with navigating the alternate route.

Motorists heading northbound on IH 37 from US 181 and the bayfront area will not be affected.

Motorists are urged to be aware of the freeway closure, consider using alternate routes, follow all traffic control devices, and to slow down in the work zones. All work is weather permitting.
