Upcoming Harbor Bridge Project mainlane closure to affect northbound IH 37 mainlanes near the IH 37 and SH 286 (Crosstown Expressway) Interchange. Detours to the frontage road will be in place. (Temporary closure to be in effect January 17, 2024)

CORPUS CHRISTI – On Wednesday, January 17, from 9 pm until midnight, northbound IH 37 mainlanes will be closed near the IH 37 and SH 286 Interchange. The closure is necessary to open a new mainlane.

Motorists traveling from the Bayfront and Downtown areas will follow the detour signs to Chaparral Street, Belden Street, Tancahua, to the Martin Luther King Drive frontage road and merge onto IH 37 at the Stillman Avenue on-ramp.

Motorists traveling southbound from US 181 to northbound IH 37 will take the first exit ramp to Martin Luther King Drive and continue on the frontage road to merge onto northbound IH 37 at the Stillman Avenue on-ramp.

The closure will not affect motorists traveling southbound from US 181 to southbound SH 286.

Portable message signs will be in place to assist motorists with navigating the alternate routes.

Motorists are urged to be aware of the mainlane closure, consider using alternate routes, follow all traffic control devices, and to slow down in the work zones.  All work is weather permitting.
